Instructions for completing and returning the pledge
are included in the PDF download.

This Taxpayer Protection Pledge is patterned after a similar pledge developed by Americans for Tax Reform (ATR), an organization formed at the request of President Ronald Reagan in 1985. The ATR pledge was endorsed by President Reagan and has been signed by hundreds of U.S. Representatives and dozens of U.S. Senators.

The pledge above was drafted by the Inland Empire Taxpayers Association.  It was created specifically for candidates and officeholders at the local level - county boards of supervisors, city councils, school boards, water boards and other special districts.

The Inland Empire Taxpayers Association keeps track of which local elected officials and candidates have and have not signed the pledge. We are committed to keeping the voting taxpayers of the Inland Empire informed as to which elected officials and candidates have promised not to raise taxes, and which elected officials have or have not kept that promise.

If you are a candidate for local office, or if you are currently a local elected official, please publicly demonstrate your commitment to the taxpayers of your jurisdiction by printing, signing, and faxing the Taxpayer Protection Pledge to us today.

“It is not the function of the government to keep the citizen from falling into error; it is the function of the citizen to keep the government from falling into error.”
Robert H. Parker,
U.S. Supreme Court Justice
